Notes to Mariners:
Smith Island's access channels and basin areas are dredged to 7.5 feet MLLW. Beware of old charts. 2 large ferries travel these channels daily. Both the North and Eastern entry channels are SKINNY. The channel is approximately 40 feet wide. DO NOT "Ping Pong" from marker to marker! The channel markers are often marking the extreme edge of the channel! STAY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CHANNEL, USE CURRENT CHARTS, AND COME IN AT A REASONABLE SPEED.
If you bump or run aground, try BACKING OFF and changing course slightly. DO NOT THROTTLE FORWARD.
If you are unsure, coming in with the tide is always a good plan.
Dockage is on a first come, first served basis and can be limited.
We can accommodate boats up to 60 feet long, and 5 feet deep.
Payments accepted at our Honor Box or on Venmo
You can reach our Dockmaster on Channel 78 or by cell phone: 443-797-2490
TEXT often reaches us when calls do not.
